Compactification of the spaces of convex projective structures:
I will discuss a construction of compactification of the
Teichmuller-like parameter space of strictly convex projective
structures on a closed n-manifold. To construct the boundary I
identify this space with a semi-algebraic subset of the variety of
characters of representations of the fundamental group of the manifold
in SL_n. Buildings over SL_n appear at the boundary. Tropical geometry
is involved both in the construction of the boundary and in the
interpretation of boundary points.
