WORDS 2007 6th International Conference on Words September 17-21, 2007 CIRM, Marseille, France Call for Papers The 6th edition of WORDS will take place at Centre international de rencontres mathématiques de Luminy (CIRM), Marseille, France from September 17 to September 21, 2007. The central topic of WORDS conferences is the mathematical theory of words (i.e., finite or infinite sequences of symbols taken in a finite alphabet) from all point of views: combinatorial, algebraic, algorithmic, as well as its applications. Essentially, this corresponds to the topics covered in the books of M. Lothaire, Combinatorics on Words, Algebraic Combinatorics on Words, and Applied Combinatorics on Words. The conference will consist of six invited lectures, contributed talks (for which authors are invited to submit an extended abstract before April 30, 2007), and two special sessions opened to all participants, one for open problems, and one for short presentations of very recent results. Invited speakers ---------------- This year we would like to explore the links between words and other areas of mathematics, and this is reflected in the choice of invited speakers. Submission and proceedings -------------------------- Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts (please do not exceed 10 pages) directly on the pre-registration form on the web site. (This is the preferred way. If for some reason you cannot use it, please contact us.) The deadline is April 30, 2007. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection one month later. Proceedings will be prepared as a technical report of Institut de Mathématiques de Luminy, and distributed to participants. We also plan to publish a special issue of some journal, after the conference, with a selection of papers. Registration ------------ There will be no registration fees. People intending to participate (with or without a paper submission) are invited to pre-register now on the web site (a more detailed registration form will have to be filled later). Limited support might be available for researchers from developping countries and students, and can be applied to on the pre-registration form. Accomodation ------------ The venue of WORDS 2007 is the international center for mathematical meetings CIRM, on the campus of Luminy. It offers full board accomodation, and it is recommended to stay there during the conference. The price for five days is 343 euros (more details can be found on the web site). As the number of rooms is limited, we invite people who intend to participate to pre-register as soon as possible on the conference web site. A few rooms may also be available in student residences on campus. Participants who prefer to stay in a hotel in the center of Marseille should organize their accomodation themselves.
